About the Club
Double B Ski Club was established in 1954 when a
group of young bachelors established the lodge on Mt Buller .There were only a
handful of buildings on Mt Buller at the time .The group were affectionately
known as the "Buller Bachelors" hence the name Double B (BB)
was born.
The founders were a group of Geelong Grammar and Melbourne Grammar students
mainly studying engineering .These friends had started going to Mt Buller in
the late 1940's ,a time when skiing was all about walking up hills and skiing
down 2 or 3 runs a day.
Over the years Double B has grown and modernised whilst preserving it's history
and it's original A frame structure ( we believe it was the first A frame built
in Australian ski fields) to provide a uniquely Australian lodge experience
based around family style accommodation.
Double B has a proud
history of offering fine family style club accommodation to members, friends of
members and guests in a ski-in, ski-out location, right in the heart of the Mt
Buller Village.
Double B is close to
6 of Mt Buller's top restaurants ,bars, supermarket, ski hire and ticket
office .We sit at the top of 2 runs (one blue and 1 black) with easy ski in
and ski out options.
A large lounge,
dining room serves the club style community with hydronic heating
throughout, double glazed windows and an open fireplace in the lounge
area..
